Lady Grace is currently being renovated (not finished) but is keen to be out of the water anyway! Built by John ‘Athol’ Garland with help (mainly advisement) from his father John at the workshop of Morrell & Garland, Joinery Factory, Te Awamutu.John worked in Tauranga as a motor mechanic butspent every weekend and holiday working tirelesslyand lovingly on his boat, it took him well under a year. Hohn’s father though the might have made a miss calculation at one point, until he measured it up and found it to be spot on. ‘Athol” was always a perfectionist and loved to create things in wood. Mainly used at the family bach at Waihaha, Taupo. Named after his dear mother who passed away from cancer. John passed away in June 2019.
