African Queen was built in Auckland of mahogany clinker for Lake Tarawera owners where the boat lived for much of her life. The present owners purchased her in 2000 in dilapidated condition and restored her. She is powered by a 12HP Sole diesel. Lake Ohakuri south of Rotorua is her most common cruising lake these days. This boat received Wooden Boat Parade awards in 2003 and 2004.
