Achernar the brightest star in the constellation Eridanus and used to determine south. Renamed Betty by Adm Bull Halsey in the War years. Purchased by Don & Diane Atkinson in 2008, she is the only launch designed by R L Stewart, a well known yacht designer, for his father. Kauri plank construction, in 1948 a flying bridge was added but was removed in 2008 when the boat was restored to her present condition, the colours being as close to the original ones as possible.
